France, 1940. In the first days of occupation, gorgeous Lucile Angellier is trapped in a stifled life with her controlling mother-in-law as they each anticipate information of her husband: a prisoner of war. Parisian refugees start to pour into their small town, quickly followed by way of a regiment of German infantrymen who take up condo in the villagers' personal homes. Lucile originally tries to forget about Bruno von Falk, the handsome and delicate German officer staying with them. But soon, a robust love draws them collectively and leads them into the tragedy of war.
