When four 12 months old Amanda McCready disappears from her home and the police make little headway in fixing the case, the girl's aunt, Beatrice McCready hires personal detectives, Patrick Kenzie and Angie Gennaro. The detectives freely admit that they have little expertise with this sort of case, but the family needs them for purposes - they're not cops and they recognise the tricky group in which they all live. As the case progresses, Kenzie and Gennaro face drug dealers, gangs and pedophiles. When they are approximately to resolve the case, they are confronted with a ethical hassle that tears them apart.
